ABOUT THE SHOWDOWN

February 22 & 23, 2019

The So iLL Showdown returns for its sixth year! Part competition, part live show, the Showdown is the Midwest’s most anticipated climbing event. After battling it out in the qualifying round, the top six female and male competitors are invited to the main event on Saturday night for a shot at winning cold hard cash.

Format

Competitors are divided based on ability and compete in one of the following divisions.

Recreational

Participants competing at the Recreational level should climb between V0 & V2.

Intermediate

Participants competing at the Intermediate level should climb between V2 & V4.

Advanced

Participants competing at the Advanced level should climb between V5 & V7.

Open

Participants competing at the Open level should climb at V8 and above.

Recreational

Participants competing at the Recreational level should climb between V0 & V2.

Intermediate

Participants competing at the Intermediate level should climb between V2 & V4.

Advanced

Participants competing at the Advanced level should climb between V5 & V7.

Open

Participants competing at the Open level should climb at V8 and above.

Round One: Redpoint Competition

  • Competitors are assigned a block of time during which they are allowed to climb.
  • Scores are determined by each competitor’s top five ascents.
  • A detailed schedule is announced approximately one week prior to the competition.

Round Two: Finals - The Showdown

  • The top six male and top six female competitors overall will advance to the Showdown.
  • These scores are based on the top five boulder problems that were successfully completed and recorded on the competitor’s score sheet during the Redpoint round.
  • Competitors will be notified by phone if their score qualifies them for finals.

Point Chaser

Individuals who register for the Point Chaser category will compete for the highest total score. These scores are based on the total number of points received for all boulder problems completed and recorded on the competitor’s score sheet.

Point Chaser competitors may climb during all of the time slots on Saturday.

Competitors may exit and re-enter the gym at any time during the day.

The top female and male competitors will be awarded prizes.

Prizes

The top three women and top three men will each take home a share of the cash purse. All remaining Showdown finalists will have their registration fee reimbursed. The top three competitors in the Recreational, Intermediate, Advanced, and Open divisions will be awarded products from our sponsors.
